MY MUSIC TIMELINE
Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 1:06PM I have been asked more than a few times to upload some of the music I have made over the years. So, I searched for all of the usable music that I have been involved in making since I got home from my mission. I have been in a lot of bands over the years and always spend time writing music or just playing my bass. So, here is a timeline of music I could find and a brief explanation.
Hyadus - was a band I played in while at college for a few months with my good friend Rachel Couch (guitar) and this Cali surfer guy that looked kinda like Owen Wilson (drums)I played bass, duh. I think we only played 1 real show which was a Battle of the Bands and we found a singer the day of the show... his name was Richard I think. He was strange and super emo before emo's really came onto the scene. He winged the lyrics the whole show and we ended up placing 2nd in the battle.
¿Cuál Bruja? - the band name means Which Witch?, in Spanish. It was something I messed around with when GarageBand first came out on the Mac. I started taking MIDI files from video games and then remixing them. I tried music from tons of games including Contra, Metroid, Double Dragon and even Blaster Master, but they never really worked out. The only ones that really went somewhere were tracks from the game Snow Brothers and Lemmings.
At this same time I bought a mini USB keyboard that I started playing, so I am sure my primitive skills on the keyboard are very evident.
Antler - this was another band that I started with my friend Rachel Couch and Stacey Whitmore (drums) while at BYU-Idaho. Plus there was another guitarist but I can't for my life remember his name. We practiced a lot in Rachel's basement and I think only played 1 show in that basement.
Ghost Mane - A band started out of boredom with my little brother Jordan the stupid idea to write songs based on the concept of combining a monster with some form of hair. We played a few shows for friends and family but only played one official show near Halloween in the Gary garage in Rexburg, ID. The best garage ever for playing shows and skateboarding during the winter. The show involved me playing bass and jordan playing drums and for a brief introduction like 15 canning jars filled with water. We also never talked once during the entire show and had an overhead projector with everything we wanted to say about ourselves and the songs ready and cut-out on transparencies. It was a weird show to say the least. The weirdest part was the Jordan wrote lyrics to the songs that were never meant to be sung, but to provide entertainment. And half way through the show people began trying to sing them. What a beautiful disaster.
Ghost Mane Solo - After I moved to Ohio I still had the urge to write songs based on the Ghost Mane concept. I started writing new songs on my own formed around me using bass loops and GarageBand. I still try and write new stuff every now and then because it has become a music obsession to write moderately spooky dance songs.
Tyson Schenk - Everything else could be grouped into this catagory. It is mostly stuff done the same way with my bass, keyboard and GarageBand but doesn't really sound spooky.
Here is a zipped file of recordings (54.57 MB) I have made under the different catagories. Hopefully you find something enjoyable in this to validate the download. Enjoi!
