    LITTLE DRAGON - "SUNSHINE"

    Genre: Sweedish Indie Dance Pop

Thoughts: Little Dragon wants to own your snapping fingers. They want to come into your house and dust off your dancing shoes. They want to shove your ears full of candy. They want to attach your shoulders to marionette strings. They want to rip out your heart and install a popcorn popper. They want you to MOVE. And when you listen to them, you want to move, too. You were meant to move. Listen to this song and try to sit.  Try to walk straight. It ain't happening. ~ James

    DOLPHINS (ALBUM PREVIEW)

A four piece from Chicago making dreamy, glo-fi, post-tropical, nü-disco sun-kissed afternoon-mare pop. You get the point. ENjO!

POMPEYA - "Пицунда", SLOW" & "NOBODIES TRUTH"

I've been a fan of Pompeya for a few years and I really like the vibe they have going on. Their songs put me in the mood for an exotic night out in Russia. First, a trip to an ice sculpted steak house for dinner. When my gut was bursting with cow meat I would shed some calories at a mafia owned roller skating rink. ENjO!

DIRTY PROJECTORS - "GUN HAS NO TRIGGER"

Here is the first single from the new album out sometime this spring. The song transported me to a haunted house in the middle of the Vermont woods on a brisk Fall morning. I was there by myself exploring and taking pictures, feeling slightly on edge but not afraid. I love when songs take me to weird places. ENjO!

    DENT MAY - "BEST FRIEND"

Wow!!!! This may be my new favorite Dent May track. I think the funky bass riff has a lot to do with that. Watch for the new LP titled Do Things out June 12th on Paw Tracks. ENjO!

SURGEONS IN HEAT - "THE PRICE", "BETTER ON YOUR OWN" & "NEVER NOTICED"

Surgeons In Heat remind me of Fantasy Island but less weird, more radio friendly. I think it's safe to say that the 90's have made a roaring comeback on the current music scene. ENjO!

    VACATIONER - "GONE"

I am really diggin' this album. It is hitting all the right notes during this amazing spring weather here in Brooklyn. I could walk around Prospect Park all day long while listening to this album. ENjO!

BIOGRAPHY: Formed in 2011 as a side project for Philly-based singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Kenny Vasoli, Vacationer blends the escapist dream pop of Beach House with the quasi-mystical electro-pop of Animal Collective. Rhythmic, heady, and hypnotic yet peppered with heartfelt lyrics and genuine emotion, Vacationer released its debut EP in 2011, followed by the full-length Gone in 2012; both were put out by Downtown Records. - iTunes Bio

    TANLINES - "ALL FIGURED OUT"

    Digital collage by keepyourfaceradical

BONUS MP3 "All Figured Out" by Tanlines

I'm really, really loving this bonus track from the Mixed Emotions LP. ENjO!

Riding the line between Battles' proggy electro jams and Vampire Weekend’s tropical pop, Brooklyn duo Tanlines started as a remix project by Eric Emm (Don Caballero, Storm & Stress, Brothers) and Jesse Cohen (Professor Murder) that involved friends singing over their music. It evolved quickly into a band, with Emm taking the frontman role and singing for the majority of their debut EP, Settings, which was released in March of 2010 on True Panther. After returning from a European tour supporting the record, the duo found that the building that housed their home studio had been sold, which lent the sessions for their first album a poignant gravity and the music reflected the displacement and subsequent maturation of the band. The resulting Mixed Emotions was mixed by Jimmy Douglass (Timbaland, Roxy Music, Aaliyah) and released in early 2012 on True Panther. - iTunes Bio

SWEET LIGHTS - "YOU LET ME DOWN"

"Tyson asked me to review "You Let Me Down" by Sweet Lights and I have to admit it took me a couple weeks to comply. Partly because I'm lazy and partly because the song defies easy description. Plus, it didn't reach me in the way I want songs to reach me. That definitely says more about me as a listener than it does about the song. I'm a sucker for melody and more than a little sense of nostalgia in my music. I tend towards the sappy. Or, I tend towards the dancey. You let me down is neither of those things, though it tempts you that it is. Sections sound like Beck circa Sea Change and sections sound like David Bowie's Space Oddity and sections sound eerily like Bohemian Rhapsody. Yet the song shifts enough in its six minutes that each of those comparisons seems partial. In fact, my desire to bring up comparisons, to have the song achieve a kind of stylistic coherence, says more about me than it does the song. It says a lot about me. Tyson knows me, and in many ways is a music mentor. I have a sneaking suspicion he asked me to review this song as a way of expanding my horizons. Its worked buddy, I am more willing to admire that which does not cohere. Its a ridiculously brave thing artistically to create something that actively pushes against its own continuity. And its clear Sweet Lights is talented enough that they could have homogenized this song down any number of stylistic avenues. But they didn't, and that makes it more interesting as art and as influence. Lesson learned over here. Now, give me back my Beach House." - Aaron

DEPORTEES - "A NEW NAME TO GO BY"

Just wanted to share this song I heard today. It's pretty magical and sets a perfect tone for a late afternoon cat nap under a coconut tree.
