GIOVANNI JAMES - "SHINING"
Friday, May 25, 2012 at 8:13AM I listened to Giovanni James's "Shining" once, and immediately put it on my iPod and took it for a jog. And this is what happened:
I stepped outside and into a world of saturated color, like Dorthy in Oz, or anyone in a Coke commercial. My street was hosting a carnival, and everywhere I looked there were people eating candied apples and corn on the cob. Couples strolled around with hands in each other's back pocket, sharing cotton candy. I dodged lightly through the crowds, and boy-next-door types smiled charmingly at me as I ran past. I turned a sunny corner and ran into a park where Giovanni James was performing in the bandshell. He smiled at me and pulled me up on stage where we danced through to the end of the song.
