COVER ART:

Being really inspired by the Hooded Fang art I enlisted the amazing talent of my youngest brother Jordan (aka The Gargoyle Wig). He has retained the amazing ability to draw like a young child even into his early twenties. He hand drew everything and then live traced everything into Corel Draw since that is all he has access to. I added the gradient background and tweaked scale and a few colors but he did 95% of the design and art and I really love how it turned out this month. I mean, what's not to like: bald pig nose turtle, UFO beaming up a casual pink cat, white deer riding a severed arm and more lightning bolts than you can shake a cat at.

SONG HIGHLIGHTS:

All We Are - Utmost Good - Bonkers good! Amazing bass line that sounds so dirty while sounding incredibly smooth. Yep smooth dirt drencehd in Neo Psych Soul.

Phoenix - Trying To Be Cool (Breakbot Remix) - This song got much better with the funk treatment of BreakBot. Maybe BreakBot and Daft Punk should colab?

Wild Nothing - The Body In Rainfall - The whole Empty Estate Ep is seriously good and hands down the best Ep this year.

Pikelet - Pressure Cooker - This song by Pikelet and Utmost Good track are hands down some of the best songs and biggest surprises of the year.

Hooded Fang - Ode To Subterania - The slacker Garage Rock trend continues and Hooded Fang changed their sound to be at the top of the comeback genre. The way the singer just sort of gives up at the end is pure magic!

Vampire Weekend and Daft Punk get honorable mentions this month since the internet has already done its job of making these band some of the most talked about releases this year.

Genre: Glitch Pop

I wish I could have included this on the May mix that will be droppin' tonight but I couldn't track down an mp3 anywhere. The song is experimental and seriously cool. I'm not sure whats in the water over in England, but the bands are really pushing some serious new ground on all music fronts at the moment. ENjO!

First, this album artwork is outrageous!! This song has a weird psychadelic bite to it that I can't tell if I love or just find a bit irritating. Either way the song is growing on me and has me intrigued to hear more.

I got this track sent to me yesterday. A huge portion of of the stufff I get sent just doesn't fall into my musical taste but BoardWalk fell right in the sweet spot. Hazy, dreamy girl-fronted shoegaze with beautiful guitar work. Yes, yes, and yes!

Boardwalk was formed last summer in Los Angeles, Calif. by Mike Edge and Amber Quintero. Their first self-titled album will be released this year on Stones Throw Records. ENjO!

With so much music coming in and out of my ear holes it is really hard to be loyal to all these talented obscure bands. Once such band has been Tacks, The Boy Disaster. I first heard their song "Frozen Feet" way back in 2006 and fell in love. I have include songs from their first album/Ep Oh, Beatrice on several mixes over the years. They just became a band that I couldn't shake from my head. Their musc became like a weird sonic security blanket that just made me feel better. Thank goodness, back in 2006 I signed up for their newsletter and sometime in 2012 I got an email saying they were working on new material and were going to go the Kickstarter route to get it made. Sign me up. I helped kickstart the album and on Saturday May 11th I got a letter from the band with my download code to their new album Twelve Lion Paws. The wait was worth it! I really love the new album and I think it will soniclly keep me warm and cozy for many years to come. Thanks for coming back. ENjO!
